Working as part of a creative design team, I am a cross-disciplinary designer and developer, with expertise in user-centred design, visual design, interaction design, information architecture, accessibility and web standards focusing on creating digital products that are both meaningful, visually engaging and highly usable.
All shaped by user experiences based on research and analysis of quantitive and qualitative data. As part of creative teams, I have worked on national and international brands, both in-house and as a third party supplier to agencies, with a passion for the web, typography form and function, always striving to improve. Intentionally looking to work on new projects that innovate and extend my conceptual thinking about design and development. Encouraging more functional interactive features into web standards; giving more thought to user experience and narrative., also greatly intrigued by brand perception.
As well as contractual roles for large clients mentioned below I have worked on various small client projects over the years, including magazines, design agencies, photographers, software products and non-profit orginisations, both national and international in diversity. This has included UI/UX design and development, mobile application design, CMS integration, ecommerce integration. Too many to list individually, yet all are equally important to me. More significant roles are detailed below.
Multi-Disciplined role, responsible for the design creation and a usable interface for both native Android and iOS application for their Discovery Centres worldwide focusing on interaction and usability involving eleven different languages. Communicating these ideas across the product organisation both here in the UK and their HQ in Denmark.
User experience consultant for the x-platform based application for this large American based company that specialises in business file sharing, somewhat similar to Dropbox. Focusing on the interaction design for multi platform digital products and services. Designing wireframes/prototyping and final screen designs through to full build with user testing, analytics and W3C Accessibility standards throughout. All worked through an Agile and Lean UX methodology and presented to the business with thorough style guides and supporting information for both developers and final specifications
Worked closely with user researchers to define features and interaction, leading to high-fidelity mockups of use case scenarios for the design and product teams. Explored issues in creating an experience for both desktop and web platforms within their target market. Redesigned the visuals and user experience, which helped see the mobile website/app see traffic grow impressively after launch.
Worked with a team of designers, researchers, program managers and developers, creating and refining user experiences for many parts of the site, including the prototyping of large parts of the UX Framework, which allowed the design team to more effectively specify interaction details and led to a significantly higher-fidelity final product for the company.
Brought into the Primary Trust to help define and accumulate together an in-house design team that could underpin and take all of the trusts current digital projects as well as future projects in the direction they were looking for.
My work consisted of assisting on their interaction design, information architecture and production of their UI for internal stock and market software. Collaborating effectively with copywriters, developers and project managers as well as other traditional design creative and their internal clients.
In my time at EMI I worked exclusively on a massive overhaul of their internal media platform that crossed into all genres of EMI’s music portfolio. I helped design and develop themes for their CMS based platform that hosts upwards of 50 artists websites. I worked closely with a small team of Accenture developers to ensure that content mangers could use the system efficiently and that the UI got the prominence it required.
Lead visual for interaction design and information architecture for all areas of the website. Focusing on streamlining and reducing content, revamping visuals and typography and creating reusable design and interaction patterns. Completed interaction design of the insurance process as well as team member of Car Buyer’s Guide. Helped introduce responsive design best practices as well as develop functional requirements, user interface design, prototyping, development and testing for their growing market.
Generated original design concepts and developed Opera’s Design Language into a tangible user experience. I worked alongside Interaction, Motion and Visual Designers to implement Opera’s Personality and Brand across its multiple platforms and future products, including third party such as Nintendo. Helped maintain various sections of the website in exploring options for enhancements to style and content. Working alongside a team of UX and UI Interactive Designers that were responsible for aspects of web site usability such as user experience, user flow, and information architecture.
Redesign of key sections of their offshore internal projects including website and associated graphics production. Emphasised consistency in presentation of key visual elements across various media. Tackled and solved localisation issues in displaying visual examples of the user interface. My duties ran the full gamut of the design process. Everything from attending new business meetings, writing proposals and estimates, concept development, user experience design and wire framing, visual design, programming, optimisation and launch.
